United Way's Day Of Caring Benefits Local Residents

All day Friday, east Texas volunteers were giving back to the community for the 15th annual Day Of Caring.

The United Way Of Smith County completed 43 service projects today, where volunteers converged on more than a dozen local agencies to give a helping hand.

On Pegues Street in Tyler, volunteer Lacey Servar helped other volunteers paint a home for a resident, and says it's just as rewarding knowing the difference they're making.

"I'm very grateful for what God has blessed me with in my own life. And I like to take the opportunity to give back to others the blessing I have in my own life."

A total of 375 volunteers were part of this year's Day Of Caring event.
