First Annual East Texas Pow-wow

The sound of native American drums is being heard in Marshall all this weekend.

The East Texas native Americans hope to spread some culture and a little education in the first annual East Texas pow-wow, held at the Marshall civic arena.

Several tribes were represented, and numerous native American crafts are on display.

The big draw for visitors is the dance competition between rival nations and participants say that the competition is something special to celebrate their heritage.

The pow wow will continue Sunday with events scheduled throughout the day.
