Four people who died when a medical helicopter crashed on a private ranch in the Sam Houston National Forest have been identified.
Walker County Chief Deputy Butch Davis says patient David Disman, flight nurse Jana Bishop, pilot Wayne Kirby and flight paramedic Stephanie Waters died in the crash.
Davis says the PHI Air Medical helicopter crew was taking the 58-year-old Disman from Huntsville Memorial Hospital to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston at the time of the crash for surgery.
The aircraft was found about ten miles from where it took off. Company spokesman Jonathan Collier says a missed check-in with dispatch raised concern. Search crews used a bulldozer to clear forest land and find the wreckage.
The company says the flight crew helped save a 2-year-old child from drowning in a swimming pool hours before the flight.
