An east Texas hospital is ten thousand dollars closer to its vision to provide critical neo-natal care for premature babies.
That's thanks to a donation by Baker Hughes on Wednesday. Construction for Mother Francis Hospital NICU unit is taking shape.
Randall Childress, who is president of the Trinity Mother Francis Hospital system foundation board, said they hope to provide state of the art care for premature babies here in Tyler. "We've had families that have been separated because the children have to be taken to hospitals in Dallas. Now they'll be able to keep their children here and have this level of care."
The NICU unit will cost 1.7 million dollars to build. The unit will have 12 beds, and it's expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
