When you go shopping for cereal this fall, you might see a familiar face. That's because an East Texan will be on the front of Kellogg's Corn Flakes.
Jay Yellas talked to Channel 7 News on Monday in his Tyler home. "I never thought I'd get on cereal box. I thought those were reserved for Tiger Woods and, you know, Michael Jordan. Guys like that. But I'm just a stinky old fisherman."
Jay earned the honor after winning the FLW Tour Angler of the Year title. He edged out favorite Kevin VanDam last week on Lake Champlain.
"I had a good tournament. I finished nineth in the final tournament and he finished 44th. And, so I was just able to pass him up at the end there."
"East Texas is right in the heart of bass fishing country in America. It's a good place to live because I meet a lot of people who really understand the sport. They follow the sport regularly."
East Texas is also a good place for cereal lovers. "We just went out and picked some blueberrys at a blueberry farm here in Tyler. So, I love in the summertime to sprinkle those on to a bowl of ceral in the morning. You can't beat that." Unless, of course, your face is on the box.
