Kilgore track star Tai'Shea Reese signed with the University of Houston on Friday. Reese, a multiple-event champion, went to state in the high jump her senior year. She finished third overall.
Reese said ending her career at Kilgore and signing to attend Houston was a bittersweet moment for her and her family.
"It feels good," Reese said, "but it's sad at the same time because I know I'm going to have to leave all them. It's sad, but they're happy for me because they know I can do it.
Reese holds two Kilgore High School records, including a long jump of nineteen-nine-and-a-half. Coincidentally, she broke the record held by her mother, LaSandra Pee, who also went to state her senior year in two events.
