The Timpson Independent School District was placed on lockdown today while police officers search for a man who fled on foot after a traffic stop.
The school, which is in Shelby County, was placed on lockdown around 8:30 am this morning, and was surrounded by law enforcement. Officers eventually caught the man, who was wanted because officers found over 240 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.
No one was allowed in or out of the school during the lockdown, and search dogs were used to look for the suspect.
The superintendent of the school, Dr. Leland Moore, emphasized to parents that the students in the school were safe at all times.
