Good Shepherd Medical Center will participate in the Stentplus Patient Success program, which has been endorsed by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC).
Components of the Stentplus Program include patient education, individualized reminder services and help with identifying appropriate financial assistance programs.
The new program hopes to help patients better understand the important steps they must take after they have had a drug-eluting stent procedure.
"The Stentplus Patient Success Program is a comprehensive support program designed to improve patient compliance with physician-prescribed dual anti-platelet therapy," said Missie Pirtle, Clinical Director of Cardiac Cath Lab. "It will help Good Shepherd Medical Center reinforce the importance of this therapy to our patients and help improve compliance with their dual anti-platelet therapy following their stent implant."
