Butterflies Released In Children's Memories

A beautiful ceremony was held Saturday to remember East Texas children and young adults who've passed away.

The Compassionate Friends of Tyler, held their 5th annual Butterfly Release, Saturday.  Filled with songs, prayer, and poetry, it was a time for grieving families to come together and celebrate the life and memory of their children.  Dozens of butterflies, representing those children, were then released into the air.  Loved ones said it was a perfect symbol.

"The caterpillar goes into the cocoon and emerges into a beautiful butterfly," said Julie LePelley, whose son was killed in 2005.  "We're only here on Earth for a short time, and we're going to shed this body, and we're going to meet our Heavenly Creator."  Compassionate Friends meet on the third Tuesday of every month.  Anyone is welcome to attend.  For more information, call 903-258-2547.
