National Weather Service Confirms EF-1 Tornado Hit Laneville

It's official. The National Weather Service says it was a tornado that caused damage in Laneville, which is in Rusk county.

Warning coordination meteorologist Keith Stellman said it was an EF-1 tornado, stretching 7 miles long with winds up to 110 miles per hour. Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service confirmed that the tornado ripped through the community of Laneville.

One home we showed you Wednesday on KLTV 7 was picked up and tossed into a nearby pond. The homeowner was out of town fishing and did not see the damage until today.

Horace Crutchfield was fishing in Louisiana when the tornado tore his mobile home apart. Now all that is left is debris in a nearby pond.

"I couldn't believe that it was really torn up like it is. I thought maybe the trailer might have turned over or something like that but to come home and have everything gone-- the barn, the trailers, the horse trailers. It's devastating," said Crutchfield.

Crutchfield said he plans on rebuilding. The National Weather Service said the tornado destroyed three homes and snapped several trees.
