A major vehicle accident occured this afternoon at Lake Davernia at Highway 80 outside White Oak.

A father and son were in a truck which flipped over the side of a bridge into Lake Davernia.

The son was able to free himself. A DPS officer told us that when he arrived, there were eight men trying to turn the truck over in the water in order to rescue the older man. The DPS officer said that he also jumped into the water, and they successfully pulled out the father. Both men were taken to the hospital.

It was a one vehicle accident. DPS believes that the accident happened when the son dropped his cell phone on the floor and reached down to retrieve it.

The accident has caused a break in a major water line in the area, and residents close by, including in Clarksville City, may be without water for a time, a spokesman for Clarksville City said. Residents who live near the area are advised to boil their water until further notice from the City.

We do not know the extent of the injuries in the vehicle accident yet, but one man was pulled from the water by paramedics.
