Lee & Binder Going Back To State In Track

The state track and field meet is this weekend in Austin, and East Texas will be well represented again.

Among the other qualifiers, Chapel Hill's Leandria Lee will be going back to defend her title in the two-hundred meters. She won the event as a junior last year.

Lindale's Whitney Binder qualified for state in the pole vault as a sophomore, she's back as a senior. Both girls say competing in Austin is just special.

"It's nervewracking," Lee said. "You have butterflies, it's all you have to do. There's no prelims, it's all finals."

"When you walk into the stadium," Binder said, "it's not like any high school meet you ever go to. There's people everywhere and the track is huge. Your coaches can't be on the field with you. It's really intimidating."

Both girls will compete for the gold on Friday.
