Service To Honor Law Enforcement In Longview Set For May 13th

In conjunction with National Police Week, May 11th through May 17th, a countywide memorial service has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 13th at 10:00 am to honor those Gregg County law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the performance of their duties.

This year's service will be held at Heritage Plaza located at 219 East Methvin Street, adjacent to the Post Office.  The guest speaker will be County Judge Bill Stoudt.

Ceremonies will include music by the Pine Tree Choir, roll call of the Gregg County officers killed in the line of duty with wreath presentations by the Longview Police Department Honor Guard, the rider less horse presented by the Gregg County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard, bagpipes played by Mr. Vernon Love and Taps by Longview Police Officer Jeremy Higginbotham.

The Longview Police Department will also host an Open House on May 13th in the Roy Stone Training Center at the police station.  Times for the Open House are 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm.  The public is invited to come by.
