Updated: Tyler Man Dies In Marian Street Fire

The Tyler Fire Department confirmed Monday morning that a 57-year-old male body was found in a burned home on Marian Street.  The man was killed in the two alarm fire that sent smoke and flames billowing into the air.

The fire was first reported around 2:00 a.m.  When firefighters arrived they say the house was engulfed.  They were able to make entry, and that's when investigators say they found the body of a 57-year-old man in a back bedroom.  At that time, firefighters say the roof began to collapse, so they were forced to pull back.  Neighbors tell KLTV 7 they heard an explosion this morning, and when they walked outside flames were shooting out of the home.  Investigators, however, still don't know what caused the fire.

"Investigators are investigating the fire," said Tyler Fire Captain Jeff Akin.  "We don't know the point of origin yet, or the cause of the fire.  There was so much damage in the home that it's probably going to take most of the day to dig through the debris and try and locate the point of origin and a cause."  Tyler fire investigators, as well as, the Longview Fire Department's arson dog is at the scene.  The man's body was sent to Southwest Forensics in Dallas for an autopsy. The name hasn't yet been released pending verification of his identity.

There was no one else in the home.
