East Texas Soldier Welcomed Home

It was a quiet reunion, Saturday in Gregg County as a weary Air Force officer returns home from Iraq.  Air Force Captain Darrell Svatek arrived at East Texas Regional Airport, Saturday morning to family and friends.  Svatek has served four tours of duty in Iraq, from Desert Storm to Iraqi Freedom.  The last three tours he served as a physician assistant helping save the lives of injured Iraqi children.  His family says they are grateful to have him home safe.

"I'm not sure words can describe it," said Svatek's wife Robin Svatek.  "You're anticipating seeing them for so long and then when you see them you're just so happy.  I don't even know what to say."

"We are doing well," said Svatek.  "We are doing very well throughout the entire country. You're going to see a reduction in violence."  Svatek is home for three weeks and hopes to receive orders to be stationed state-side.
