The Family Of Gunned Down Trooper Scott Burns Speaks Out

For the first time since Jefferson Department of Public Safety Trooper Scott Burns was shot and killed Tuesday night , we are hearing from his family.

This morning, more than two dozen residents, friends, and colleagues of Burns, gathered on the steps of the Linden Courthouse. Pictures of Burns and his wife Michaela, and their five-month-old daughter Micah were on display along with other family photographs.

Linden Mayor Kenny Hamilton read a statement on behalf of the Burns family.

"The Burns family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, love, and support extended to them at this tragic time. The family has also asked me to convey to you the anger and frustration that they feel over this senseless, cold blooded act that cost Micah Burns her father.

The family was also relived when the combined efforts of law enforcement ended the search for Scott's killer," said Hamilton.

The funeral for Trooper Burns will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Linden.
