New Details On Wanted Man In Trooper Shooting

We are learning more about the suspect police are looking for in the shooting death of Trooper Scott Burns. Emails and calls having been coming into our newsroom with details about Brandon Wayne Robertson, 37. KLTV 7's Tracy Watler has been looking into Robertson's past, including his criminal history and past jobs - one, you just won't believe.

He's a wanted man in the murder of a DPS trooper, but KLTV 7 has learned he was once a police officer himself.

State records show Robertson served as a peace officer for seven years bouncing between the Overton Police department, Kilgore P.D., and the Rusk County Sheriff's Office between 1992 and 1999.

One of Robertson's relatives tells KLTV after leaving the force, Robertson started working for a repossession company, and then eventually opened up one of his own. The relative says that's when he starting doing drugs and was arrested off and on.

Records show he's been in and out of the Gregg County Jail six times between 2004 and 2006. He was even incarcerated on a drug charge for a four-year term, but got out on parole in less than a year.

We stopped by Robertson's listed address, at a RV park in Tyler, where his father answered the door and was very hostile, saying he hadn't seen his son in two weeks and wanted us to get off his property.

We've also been told by relatives that Robertson has two teenager daughters who now live in Dallas with their mother.
