Kilgore High School Choir Sings At NBA Game

It's a slam dunk for an East Texas school.

The Kilgore High School choir was picked to sing the national anthem at the opening of the San Antonio Spurs basketball game last weekend.

Their choir director, Patty McKinney, says Kilgore high school choir was picked over five other school choirs to perform. Students say it was a performance of a lifetime.

"It was really fun. We really didn't think such a small town, like Kilgore, could be picked for something so big but we did," said junior choir member, Allison Whisenhunt.

"My advice to students is, if you ever get a chance like this don't pass it up because that will probably be the only chance you'll get to do something so great," said junior choir member, Calvin Lacy.

Out of the 40 Kilgore high school choir members, 37 of them had never been to San Antonio until now.
