Six Longview Stores Cited For Selling Alcohol To Minors

The Longview Police Department and TABC conducted a sting in Longview last Friday, leading to citations for six stores.

The selling of alcohol to minors is a Class 'A' misdemeanor. TABC issued administrative citations to the stores.

"The random minor stings are not about trying to catch retailers breaking the law, they are about keeping alcohol out of the hands of anyone under the legal drinking age of 21," said Holly Fuller, TABC Partners in Prevention manager.  "Although we would have preferred to have zero stores cited, we are pleased that 70% of the stores checked refused to sell alcohol to the minors," Fuller added.

Longview Police Chief J.B. McCaleb stated, "It is the goal of the police department for all stores to be in compliance with these statutes.  We will continue to conduct random checks to ensure retailers act in accordance with the law."
