Investigation Continues Into Gregg County Double Homicide

Gregg County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 3800 block of Tyron Road in Longview, around 5:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. That's when the bodies of Bennie Neil, 83, and June Killingsworth, also 83, were found.

Officials say the couple was not shot. They say some other weapon or weapons were used, but they aren't sure at this point what those weapons are. Officials say there are signs of forced entry to the couple's home. Shattered glass was found near the back door of the home, and officials say the door appeared to have been kicked in or broken.

The body of June Killingsworth was found inside her home, and her husband's body was found outside the home.

A neighbor we spoke with says he and other neighbors are now scared for their safety.

Ronnie Gentry lives right next door to the couple and since the Killingsworth's suspicious murder, Gentry is taking precautions to stay safe in his home.

"Before this homicide happened, I've never slept as close to my firearm as I am now. It's a sad state of affairs, but that's the way I got to be to protect myself," said Gentry.

Over the weekend, Gregg County authorities released a sketch of a man in connection with this homicide. The sketch was made by a DPS artist. Officials describe him as a white man, with sandy to dark colored hair.

Investigators say they have received several leads on look-a-likes of this man on Monday after releasing the sketch of the man seen driving the victim's truck.
