Vanderbeken, Ford Sign Letters of Intent

Two East Texas athletes signed letters of intent Wednesday with Division I schools.

Jamie Vanderbeken was a standout with TJC, now he's headed to the Big XII.

Vanderbeken signed his letter of intent with Iowa State. The 6-foot-10 forward said there was no doubt he wanted to be a Cyclone.

"They recruited me ever since October," Jamie said, "and they made me feel like I was a priority for them. That I was actually needed. They just have a good situation there for me. They're losing a couple of bigs so I'll be able to go in and contribute right away."

In Whitehouse Wednesday afternoon, Kyle Ford signed with Nicholls State.

Kyle said Nicholls State's style of offense made his choice easy.

"A few others were interested, Centenary, Dallas Baptist and Ouachita Baptist," Ford explained, "but Nicholls State was a division one (school) and that's what I was looking for."
