Former Deputy Pleads Guilty To Tampering

A former East Texas patrol deputy faces jail time of his own.

32 year old Thomas Durand Elliott, a former Harrison County Sheriff's Ddeputy, pled guilty to tampering with a witness. Prosecutors said Elliott tried to bribe a witness in connection with his divorce case.

Elliott surrendered his peace officers' license and will serve six months in jail, be placed on five years probation, and must undergo psychiatric counseling for a year.
