Follow Up: Investigating As Murder Suicide

Authorities are still investigating it as a murder-suicide, but the family is hoping that the phone calls they received saying it was accidental are true.

Monday Johnny Kellis and his wife Gail Fry were found dead from gunshot wounds in their home between Tyler and Chandler.

Johnny's family spoke to KLTV 7 again and told us that he called his brother, saying he had accidentally shot Gail and was going to kill himself.

"He was just pushed into a corner. We just think he lost it. Snapped. When he did that. We know he didn't mean to kill her," said Margaret Grimes, Johnny's sister.

We met his son and one of his daughters at the house this morning to try and salvage some of his stuff. But his bedroom was completely gone from a fire caused by "flash grenades" used by the SWAT Team.

Smith County authorities have been conducting more interviews, learning about the couple's relationship and what may have happened inside the home.
