TISD Student Receives Congressional Appointment

Sarah Pritchard Sarah Pritchard

Robert E. Lee High School senior Sarah Pritchard has been appointed to attend the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, TISD announced today.

"Sarah is an intelligent, self assured intuitive young lady.  She has a passion for learning that will serve her well at the United States Naval Academy," said George Ann Reed, counselor at Robert E. Lee High School.

"We are proud that she has been honored with this appointment."

A nomination from a Congressman, Senator or the Vice President of the United States is required in order to receive an appointment. Pritchard applied to the office of Senator John Coryn for a nomination. Senator Coryn's office officially notified the Naval Academy that Pritchard was a nominee in January.  In a typical year, approximately 4,000 candidates receive nominations. However, only 1,500 appointments are given out.

Pritchard is undecided in her major of choice but will most likely pursue an education in math and science or engineering.  Pritchard is the daughter of Daryl and Christine Pritchard and Beth Marshall and Anthony Wilgus.

She will begin at the Naval Academy in July.
