After eight long months, an East Texas soldier is back home, but his children were not expecting to see him until later this week. Monday, they got a nice surprise, one that shows no matter the distance, the love between father and daughter cannot be broken.
Her reaction says it all. Katryna McComb could only smile after seeing her father for the first time in eight months.
"Daddy," screamed Katryna as she ran into her father's arms. Sergeant Michael McComb, 33 arrived back home in Hawkins Sunday night. He just completed his second tour of duty in Iraq with the Air Force.
"I'm just absolutely ecstatic," said Sergeant McComb. "I can't tell you how much I appreciate being in the great state of Texas. It's my favorite place in the world." McComb has a lot to come home to. Not only did he surprise Katryna at daycare Monday morning, but his other daughters, Brittany, 9 and Gabriella, 10 at school.
"I'm just happy to be home," said McComb. "There's just not much more I can say."
"It's pretty cool to have him home," said Gabriella. "I'm very proud of him." It's a day McComb says he hopes his children will remember forever. The day this is East Texas soldier and dad was reunited with his little girls.
Sergeant McComb's children got the day off from school, Monday to spend with their father. On Thursday, McComb and a fellow soldier will be honored by the city of Hawkins for their service.
