Some Malt-O-Meal Cereal Recalled

Malt-O-Meal cereals have been linked to a widespread salmonella outbreak in the U.S.  This comes following a voluntary recall of two types of their cereals.

The two cereals were recalled back on April 5 and consist of their unsweetened Puffed Rice and unsweetened Puffed Wheat cereals.

There have been 23 reported cases of salmonella thus far across 14 states in the U.S.

No one has had to be hospitalized as of yet, and on one has died from the virus.

The cereals are under the Malt-O-Meal brand name as well as Acme, America's Choice, Food Club, Giant, Laura Lynn, Jewel, ShopRite, Pathmark, Tops, Weis Quality, Shaws, and Hannaford.

The cereals have a best if used by date between April 8, 2008 and March 28, 2009.

The recommendation is to throw the cereal away immediately if it is in the home of any consumer.
