Storms Knock Down Trees And Power Lines

Thursday morning's storms moved quickly through East Texas, but left a lot of debris behind. In Smith County, more than 5,000 people lost power.  Video of the storm as it moved through Tyler shows heavy rain, lightening and very strong winds.  What it left behind is going to take days to clean up.

There are several downed power lines and trees, including one at Hogg Middle School in Tyler. In the Flint-Gresham area, the wind rolled the roof right off of one business.  It was a close call for a northern Smith County Home.  In a matters of seconds, homeowner Cathy Little says one of their trees came tumbling down, narrowly missing their new home.

"All at once the wind shifted, and it just rolled over and laid down like somebody had their hands around it," said Little.  "I was standing there with my mouth open, froze and my husband said what's the matter, and I said come over and look."  David Baker's home was not so lucky Thursday morning after a tree landed on his house.  His main concern he says is to get the tree cleaned up and get power restored as quickly as possible.
