Two Arrested For Theft Of Copper Wire

At approximately 6:00 am, April 10, 2008, Longview Police responded to 801 West Cotton, Longview Gear and Axle, in reference to a theft in progress.

Upon the officers' arrival, they found 47 year old Julius Ceaser Hedrick and 58 year old Marvin Byrdsong; both of Longview, taking scrap metal from a dumpster belonging to the business.

Also found in the bed of the pickup the suspects had driven to the scene was a large amount of copper wire that had the casing burned off of it.  Both subjects denied ownership of the copper wire.

Both subjects were arrested and taken to the Gregg County Jail where they were charged with Theft of Wire/Cable containing 50% Aluminum, Bronze, or Copper which is a State Jail Felony.

Bond for each suspect has not yet been set.
