'Earth Day East Texas' Looking For Participants

The Camp Tyler Foundation is looking for Earth-friendly businesses and organizations that would like to participate in Earth Day East Texas from Noon. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 20 at Camp Tyler.

Groups are invited to set up a booth at this event to educate the public about being a good steward of their environment. Activities include hayrides, nature trail walks, bird watching, gardening and composting demonstrations. Children will be invited to play fun educational games to earn an Earth Day patch shown above. Throughout the day, live music will be performed and food will be available for purchase.

"The main purpose of this free event is for everyone to leave with at least one thing new that they can do to make a smaller footprint," said Debbie Shafer, event chair.

Groups that will be participating include Arborgen, Asthma Camp, Audubon Society, Arc of Tyler/Smith County, A Circle of Ten, Cool Planet, University of Texas at Tyler Early Childhood Educators, East Texas Trekkers, G.L.O.B.E.-Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment, Girl Scouts of North East Texas, Kappa Delta Pi, Keep Tyler Beautiful, Keep Whitehouse Beautiful, Southwest Center for Pediatric Environmental Health, Sister Communities Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Smith County Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists, Tri Beta and Tyler Parks and Recreation.
