The University of Texas at Tyler will hold its first ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' event on Saturday, April 12.
The walk begins at 11 a.m. at the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center.
"A nationally-known charitable event, ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,' promotes awareness of sexual assault and invites males of all ages to literally put themselves in a pair of ‘her' shoes (high heels preferred) for one mile," Kim Harvey Livingston, UT Tyler counselor, said.
Both the university community and general public, as either individuals or teams, will participate. Even though the event is geared toward males, it is open to females as well.
Individuals and teams will be recognized in various categories.
