Accident Claims Life Of East Texas Student

An early morning single vehicle accident claimed the life of a Harleton high school senior. The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. this morning, off FM 726 between Harleton and Ore City.

Harrison County DPS troopers say 18-year-old Colton Hall, of Diana, lost control of his 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck, when he was traveling around a sharp curve. Troopers say Hall drove off into a ditch and eventually hit a tree. Officials say speed and slippery road conditions caused the accident.

Harleton Independent School District released this statement: "This morning Harleton ISD received confirmation that a terrible accident had taken the life of one of its own. The district wishes to express its sincere condolences to the family. Ours is a very close knit community, and we all feel this loss deeply. We realize that words cannot express the way that the parents of this young man must feel at this time, but we want them to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them."
