TISD Campus To Host Child Abuse Awareness Event

John Tyler High School will be the site of the City of Tyler's declaration of Child Abuse Prevention Month on Friday, April 4, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. in the Theatre at John Tyler High School located at 1120 North Northwest Loop 323 in Tyler.

Dignitaries from the Mayor's Office, Tyler Police Department, Smith County Sheriff's Office, Child Protective Services, along with John Tyler students, will participate in this event.

John Tyler High School students have collected more than 500 pairs of shoes to represent the number of children who were abused and neglected in Smith County last year.

Tyler ISD is supporting many events throughout the district to recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Earlier this week many campuses participated in Go Blue Day by wearing blue clothes to raise awareness abuse child abuse.  The color blue was chosen to represent the bruised and battered bodies of the thousands of children that are abused everyday.
