Longview Residents Clean-Up After Weekend Storm

The Highland Village apartment complex located of FM 1845 was one of the hardest hit places during Saturday night's storms. Today, crews cleaned up soaked carpet after parts of the roof collapsed in one of the partment buildings. More than two dozen apartment windows that were blown out are being stapled up in anticipation of more rain and wind.

Over at Mills Creek Village apartment complex located at 200 Bostic Drive, several residents like Willie Mae Martin were devastated when they saw what the storm had did to their vehicles.

"I heard the hail I didn't think about my car. I went out on my balcony and one lady was baming on the door saying all the cars were messed up.  I looked at my car and I was just in shock. I couldn't believe it," said Martin.

Karen Carlson is also one of the residents at Mills Creek Villiage whose 2003 Nissan Altima was destroyed by the heavy rain and hail.

"My leather seats are drenched and the carpet and all that stuff is ruined," said Carlson.

For Mona Wisienger the storm not only scarred her family but the large hail ruined her car so bad that she won't be using it again. I didn't belive that it was hail at first. My kids and I went and got the hail and put it in the freezer. We got big chunks of hail," said Wisenger.

Residential areas weren't the only places hit. At LeTourneau University hail pounded on planes and a helicopter. Windshields on several university vehicles were blown out including the student center's window.

"The Memorial Student Center  building had a window that was knocked out. So, it's just a matter of a little bit of clean up, we're just thankful that there were no injures.

Luckily, all the Longview folks we talked to do have insurance. As for LeTourneau University they are still trying to access all the damage on campus.
