Southeast Texas Under Water

Video Provided by KTRE-TV, Lufkin/Nacogdoches

It's a flooding nightmare, Sunday down south as counties have literally been shut down.  Radar reports estimate parts of Southeast Texas got as much as 15 inches of rain.  The town of San Augustine is almost completely flooded.  There have been reports of several high water rescues as people are being swept away in their cars.  Our sister station in Lufkin, KTRE-TV, has also learned of two confirmed deaths, one in northern Sabine County.  A driver tried to cross a water covered bridge there and either ran off, or was swept off the road.  The other death was reported in San Augustine County.

San Augustine and Shelbyville ISD are closed Monday.
