Gregg County Oil Businesses Hit By Theft

Gregg county authorities are looking for a white flatbed pick-up, thought to be involved in the theft of thousands of dollars worth of materials from oilfield work-sites.   The sheriffs office says over 25-thousand dollars in materials have been stolen from 6 different oil-field work-sites, most near the White Oak area.   Investigators say the pick-up is equipped with a crane or a hoist, and the thieves are hitting sites that are rarely occupied.

"Of course these particular sites are very rural , those that specialize in this type of theft can move into an area and take what they want very quickly and be out of the area and generally have a place to go with this before its even taken" said lieutenant Mike Claxton of the Gregg county sheriffs office.
