Police Alert Residents To Be On The Lookout For Suspicious Van

Today, around 11:00 am, officers responded to Andy Woods Elementary School in reference to a report of a suspicious person or vehicle.

Police talked to an 11 year old girl who told officers that she was walking to school when she was followed by an older white van, occupied by a Hispanic male driver and black male passenger.  The driver asked the girl if she wanted a ride to school several times as she walked down the street.  The girl ignored the drivers request and started to run to the school.  The van then turned around as it got close to the school and has not been seen since.

The Hispanic male driver was described as wearing a black toboggan hat and a tattoo on his left forearm, the black male was wearing a Texas Longhorn cap.

The police have no further description at this time.

Anyone with information about the suspects involved in this incident is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers, at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833).
