NWFA Tackling Tyler Team

Here in East Texas its not uncommon to see some hard hits on the football field.

In the future, it may not be just the boys making those hard hits.

The National Women's Football Association is testing the waters and hopes to make Tyler home of a women's tackle football team.

They NWFA has 35 teams across the country. League representative Debby Lening says if there is enough interest they would base a team in Tyler.

"It's not flag football, it's NFL style football," Lening said. "We play tackle football. You've got to be able to take a hit and you've got to be able to give a hit. All we are looking for is athletic ability. If you've ever played softball or basketball or any sport like that we'd love to come out and have you try to play football if you are interested."

Interested players, coaches and potential owners should call the NWFA's office at (615) 860-4084 or email dreamfootball@cs.com.
