Long-Time Businessman Jack King Senior Dies

A long-time Tyler businessman and philanthropist has died. Jack King, Sr., 84, passed away Sunday afternoon after weeks of hospice care for a long-term illness. With his father, King Senior founded King Chevrolet in 1949, later passing it onto his son, Jack King Junior.   KTLV 7's Barry Hanson shot many commercials with the King family, showcasing their dealership.

"Mr. King was solely involved in the community for so many years, he did so many things for so many people, and right behind me [pointing the old King Chevrolet building] you can see the results of three generations of people that came along and provided jobs for people and was very well thought of in the community," Hanson says.

Funeral arrangements are still pending with Stewart Funeral home in Tyler.
