Winona Middle School Principal Turns Himself into Authorities

A Winona Middle School Principal turned himself in to the Smith County Sheriff's Department Thursday for failure to report "indecency with a child" within 48 hours.

A warrant was issued Wednesday for John Matthews arrest because he allegedly waited seven days to report inappropriate contact by a coach with a 13-year-old student. Matthews is now out on 500-dollars bond.

Matthews was suspended last Thursday pending results of an investigation. The case against Matthews has been turned over to the Smith County District Attorney's office.
