KLTV 7 News has confirmed reports of stabbing in downtown Tyler this morning.

Two men had an altercation inside a downtown Attorney General's office on Spring Street when one man stabbed the other in the upper back area. The incident happened just after ten am this morning. Deputies were able to seperate the two men.

The man suspected of stabbing the victim reportedly threw an object onto the roof of a building nearby, but police don't know what the item was.

Police are also interviewing other witnesses.

One witness, Roderick Robinson, said, "I heard the suspect walk in and try to shake the guy's hand, the one that got stabbed. And the guy that got stabbed threw his hand down and told him, "I don't want to shake your hand, I'm going to get you when we get out of here."

Don Martin of the Tyler Police Department said that he thought it may have stemmed from some type of court proceeding, but the police are still looking at all the details.

Derrick Nakia, 33, of Tyler, was transported to the Tyler Police Department for questioning. Louis A. Burns, 41, of Tyler, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a stab wound.

No charges have been filed in the incident.
