Longview ISD Grading Policy Changes Grades from 68 and 69 to 70

Longview Independent School District officials are standing by their new grading scale policy. The policy upgrades students with grades of 68 and 69 to 70 on their report cards. The policy went into effect at the beginning of the school year. Longview High Schools principal says the policy was need and is being well implemented.

"I've never known so many students  to fail courses with 69. That's just too close for comfort. If everybody else can give their students a break Longview Independent School District can give their students a break," said James Brewer, principal of Longview High School. Longview ISD says the failure rate for first semester ninth graders went from 17.5 percent last year to 12.4 percent this year.
