East Texas Students Show Off Their Science Genius Skills

Developing theories, conducting experiments, and drawing conclusions. It beats a day at school and that's exactly what some East Texas science students did Today.

East Texas students from several different schools showed off their science skills at the 45th annual "East Texas Regional Science Fair" at Kilgore College. Students tested everything from global warming to how getting enough sleep affects your grades.

"I decided to do the effect of global warming and coral and to see why corals around the world are decreasing. I though my project was really good, but once I saw all of the other students projects I though mine was pretty average,"said Caroline Thompson, a student at Moore Magnet School.

"We take a careful look at the projects and the ones that I've looked at so far are really good and they show a lot of originality," says Dr. Leon Wooten, a biology instructor at Kilgore College.

The top senior project winners were awarded a trip to the "2008 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair" in Atlanta, Georgia.
