Challenger Softball League Awards Special Kids

Some very special softball players took home awards for all their hard work this season. The Challenger League wound up their season with trophies, a cookout, and smiles all around.

The league for children with disabilities is part of the Rose City East Little League. About sixty kids were part of the program this year. Coaches and volunteers help them take the field for an eight-week season that lets them play softball and have fun, just like other kids.

Rangers outfielder Rachel Walden says, "A lot of kids who are physically or mentally disabled don't get to go out and do normal activities like most people do. It's a time to just get together and have a lot of fun."

The Challenger League has been bringing disabled kids together for fifteen years now.
