Lady Mustangs Make Familiar Trip To Austin

The Martin's Mill Lady Mustangs are in the state tournament for a third straight year. The trip to Austin becoming so routine, the charter bus can drive itself there.

But that does not keep down the town's excitement.

The Martin's Mill community showed their Lady Mustangs some love as they left for Austin Wednesday morning. A community pep rally and sendoff wished the girls well on their way.

The Lady Mustangs have a shot at a second title in three years.

"This week has been just a major accomplishment for us to get through it," said Taylor Daniel. "It's so hard getting up at 6:45 in the morning to practice and being there and being supportive. But I think we have a lot to prove."

"I think it's a bitter sweet experience because it's a lot of fun going to a state tournament for a third time but this is my last chance to do anything," Christa Williams said. "So, it's going to be fun but it's going to be hard. I'm going to miss it."

Martin's Mill came up short against Lindsay in the semifinals last year. They look to avenge their loss Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in Austin.
