East Texan "Jessica Brown" Makes American Idol Hollywood List

With smooth melodies like these it's no surprise that at the age of 3-years-old, Jessica Brown caught the singing bug. "I've always been really nervous in singing even in high school I had a bad case of stage fright. So, this was a big step for me," said Brown. A big step indeed--so big that Jessica managed to gain the heart of the judges and sang her way to Hollywood.

"When I made it to Hollywood the feeling was un-describable. My family and I were just ecstatic! My experience on American Idol was really good.  I gained a lot of insight about what to expect in music performance areas. Surprisingly, Simon was actually nice to me," said Brown.

For Jessica, her good life filled with sweet melodies has had some cloudy days. "I struggled with drug addiction when I was in college. I can remember trying "meth" for the first time when I was at a party in college. I didn't overcome drug addiction by myself. It was all by God's strength that I got through it. I think that if I could stop one person from using drugs or inspire them not to go down that road that this whole journey is worth it," said Brown.

160,000 people tried out for American Idol this year. Of those, Jessica was one of 160 who made it to Hollywood. And Even though she didn't make it through the competition, she's going to give it another shot next year.
