East Texas Man Charged For Assaulting Public Servant Pleads Guilty

An East Texas man gets one year deferred adjudication probation for assaulting a public servant.  Mickey Stevens was initially charged with felony assault on a public servant after he hit an investigator at the Smith County District Attorney's Office.  He plead guilty to the lesser charge of assault.

In July, Steven's wife was arrested for allegedly strangling their 2-year old son to death.  Smith County DA Matt Bingham says they recognized Stevens had lost his son and was under stress at the time fo the assualt, so they were comfortable with allowing him to put this behind him by pleading guilty to lesser offenses.
