Person Hit Walking in Roadway, Then Ticketed by Police

A Tyler man was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a car late Sunday in the 2000 block of Old Omen Road.

Police responded just before 8:00p.m. and found a 17-year-old black male injured when a mirror clipped the teen.

Police said the male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and treated for a minor head injury and broken arm.

The pedestrian was ticketed by police for walking on the wrong side of the road.

"The Tyler Police Department would like to remind the public that when walking on a roadway where a sidewalk is not provided, a person should always travel facing the flow of vehicular traffic in accordance with Texas Transportation Code laws," said Patrol Sergeant Tommy Lewis, in a press release.
