Longview Police arrested two people today, charging them with the theft of a snack truck from a parking lot in Lakeport.

Shortly after noon Monday, a Lay's Snack Truck was reported stolen from the parking lot at Texas 322 and 149 in Lakeport, according to Lt. Mike Claxton of the Gregg County Sheriff's Dept. Lakeport Police Chief Wesley Freeman investigated the initial theft and called in Sheriff's investigators when the truck was found in eastern Gregg County.

"The Lay's truck was stolen while the driver was stocking a business in Lakeport," Claxton said in a prepared statement. "A short time later, deputies found the truck abandoned near Horton Street. Investigators were sent to assist Lakeport Police."

Snack chips had been taken from the truck, according to Claxton.

"While they were processing the truck for evidence, two suspects returned to the area," Claxton said in a prepared statement. Chief Freeman and Investigator Chris Miller stopped and detained the suspects on Whitney Street. A quantity of snack chips were found in the car, Claxton reported.

Jeremy Washington, 20, and Kiara Debose Sattler, 19, both of Longview, were arrested and transported to the Gregg County jail. Washington was charged with theft under $500, and Sattler with unauthorized use of a motor-propelled vehicle. About $2,000 worth of product was recovered in the truck and car.

Washington and Sattler were arraigned this morning and bonds were set at $500 and $5,000, respectfully. Both remain in jail, according to Claxton.
