Unlike past years, the East Texas Auto and Cycle show is dedicated this year in memory of Alex Fleming, 17. Fleming was killed in a car accident this past May. Those who knew him said Fleming always attended the Auto and Cycle Show and even served as a volunteer last year. Fleming's father spoke Friday night at a special dedication service.
"I would have hoped more young people would've listened to the presentation Friday night and picked up on something from Erik, Alex's dad," said family friend John Baldridge. "How to give and how to share what you have, and how to love each other. I don't know that there was a mean bone in Alex's body. He was a great Christian young man, very very honorable. I was just blessed with knowing him." Fleming would have been a senior at Whitehouse this year.
