Longview Murder Suspect Arrested In Georgia

A man wanted in connection with two East Texas robberies and a deadly shooting has been captured in Georgia. Tuesday, Dekalb County Georgia officers arrested 26 year old Desmond Jackson in Atlanta.  Police said Jackson is the man caught by surveillance video robbing a Kroger store in Marshall on January 9th.

Longview authorities also linked Jackson to the December 10th robbery and shooting at Cash America Pawn on High street, where a 56 year old man was killed.  Jackson is facing robbery and capital murder charges, and is currently awaiting extradition to Texas.

"We cooperated with Longview and Georgia police and we each had a little bit of the picture and we were able to put the big puzzle together," said Marshall Police Chief Jim Wilkins.

After his arrest, Jackson implicated 33 year old James Roberson, his alleged accomplice in the Marshall robbery. Roberson was the assistant manager at the Marshall Kroger. He is charged with aggravated robbery.
